The Restraint, Seclusion and Segregation (RSS) Project, led by Advonet and CHANGE, has some interesting news about part of what the RSS Project is all about. This involves meeting directly with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to share your experience to help make changes to the use of RSS in health and care settings.
There is an Expert Advisory Group (EAG) who are appointed to the CQC’s larger project, and they are keen to have experts by experience at their meetings which are held in London.
The next one is very soon, on Wednesday 18th September, and the CQC would like for us to try and reach anyone with lived experience of RSS, including families and carers, who are willing and able to travel to London and attend the EAG on that date. There will be also be at least one other meeting, most likely in January.
All expenses will be covered and we are happy to discuss what kind of support we need to provide to make participation possible for anyone who wants to attend and communicate with the EAG about their experiences.

More generally, we are keen to hear from individuals with lived experience of RSS who may wish to contribute to the project, and we hope to set up an experts-by-experience steering group to direct the independent report.
