We are looking for someone to join our Board of Trustees as our new Treasurer. This vacancy comes at an interesting time, where we are looking for someone with experience of managing an organisation’s finances to support our charity with securing funding to keep our work going.

At the time of writing, we have an annual turnover of around £2 million, over 80 staff members and multiple projects providing advocacy and related support in Leeds and elsewhere in West Yorkshire. We support around 4,000 people per year through services such as advocacy, information and signposting and peer support.

As an organisation, we have accreditation as a Disability Confident Employer, Mindful Employer, the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark, Investing in Volunteers and Investors in People. We have also won awards, including the Outstanding Service prize at the 2023 National Advocacy Awards for our Autism AIM service.

What does the role involve?

As Treasurer, your role entails:

  • Attending regular Board meetings, held every three months
  • Chairing sub-groups for resources
  • Providing some support with funding bids

Experience of working in charity finance and an accountancy qualification are desirable for the role, but not essential. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of needing advocacy.

If you are interested in applying, please email our Chief Executive Angela Ellis at [email protected] or call our office on 0113 244 0606 and ask for Angela to have an informal chat about the role.
