For day three of Advocacy Awareness Week 2022, we have a story about our work on a project with the Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board in 2019-2020. The project aimed to share the stories of adults who had been through the safeguarding process to make improvements to local adult safeguarding services, promoting the right to liberty.
Between 2019 and 2020, we worked with the Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board (LSAB) on a project called Talk To Me, Hear My Voice: Hear My Safeguarding Story. This involved speaking to people who have been through the adult safeguarding process, asking them what could be done better.
We also helped to set up the Safeguarding Board Reference Group. This is made up of people with lived experience of using safeguarding services. They were involved in putting together a report on the project’s findings and have a voice in the work of the LSAB’s board.
In helping to make their voices heard, we hope that people’s right to liberty is protected going forward when accessing adult safeguarding services.
