The agenda for our event about the new Advocacy Development Fund is out now. It includes guest speakers, information about applying for the fund and space for discussion about how it can be used.

It begins with a welcome from Peter Gruen, the chair of our Board of Trustees. An introduction from Gwen Adair-Wagner, Leeds City Council’s Commissioning Manager will come next.

Chief Executive Philip Bramson will explain how the Advocacy Development Fund’s grants will work. After that, Advocacy Director Nahida Hussain will talk about how many have been supported by our advocacy services. She will then look at where needs can be met in future.

Grassroots advocacy

Self-Advocacy Manager Bushra Javed, Henriette Mahamane from Leeds City Council’s Migration Project and Ali Mahgoub from Leeds Refugee Forum will all discuss advocacy in communities. Cllr Fiona Venner, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Adult Social Care and Health, talks about how advocacy can be used to help improve inclusion.

After a quick break, there will be table-top discussions about different areas concerning the Fund. Then, there will be feedback from each group.

Next, there is a presentation on how small groups can be helped to apply for grants by registered charities. Peter Gruen will lead a Q&A session and Philip Bramson will end the event with a summary and next steps for the Fund.
