Advocacy is empowering people to understand their rights and speak up about their needs, saying what is important to them.
At this time, understanding self-advocacy and how it can help you get your voice heard is more important than ever.  This is especially important when you are trying to gain access to services to improve your life.
We have developed a range of self-advocacy resources and workshops and want to speak to our local communities about them. We want to support marginalised communities to use the resources and gain feedback on how you would like to see them develop.

Online event

The Advonet Group will be running an online self-advocacy event called  Empowering Our Communities Through Self-Advocacy on Wednesday 28th October. This will include:

  • An introduction to self-advocacy, why it is important and new resources and support
  • Coproduction workshops – breakout groups looking at self-advocacy resources, workshops/training and group/peer advocacy available for your community and how these could be adapted for your needs
  • Action planning and setting up a steering/focus group to develop self-advocacy in Leeds
