On Monday 31st March 2025, we will stop using our accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter. The affected accounts are for The Advonet Group, Asking You!, Leep1, Leeds Autism AIM and the Autism AIM – Mental Health Equity Project.
There are several reasons why we are making this decision. The main ones are:
- Harmful and abusive content coming from some accounts, often targeting disadvantaged people and communities. This is something we and many other charities have seen a lot of in the past few years
- An overall fall in the number of people using X, with other, newer platforms becoming more popular
- Reviewing our entire social media activity
- X not working as well as it used to
This isn’t a decision we have taken lightly. However, a combination of dwindling user numbers and toxicity left us with no choice but to leave. In doing this, we hope messages about our work are seen more.
Moving to Bluesky
As we close the door on X, we are moving to Bluesky. We already have an account on there for The Advonet Group as a whole, but plan on setting up ones for Asking You!, Bradford and Craven Autism AIM, CHANGE, Leeds Autism AIM and Leep1 in the near future.
