For day five of Advocacy Awareness Week 2022, our final story comes from our Leeds Autism AIM team. They talk about how their advocacy for autistic adults helps to uphold their right to be free from discrimination.
Our Leeds Autism AIM project has provided independent advocacy to autistic adults in the Leeds area for a number of years.
It has helped them to overcome barriers and achieve outcomes such as successful benefit appeals and improved access to local services and support.
In providing advocacy, the AIM team are helping to ensure that autistic adults in the Leeds area are listened to and are not being discriminated against when trying to access what they need.
