Our Focus Group will be looking at two things next month. The first will revisit the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). The second is about promoting the Focus Group itself and looking at ways to get more people to take part.

Due to be brought in later this year, the LPS is the replacement for the current Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). They will provide protection for people aged 16 and over who are or need to:

  • Be deprived of their liberty to enable their care or treatment and;
  • Lack the mental capacity to give consent to their support

Those who might have them in place include people with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic people who lack the relevant capacity.

Increasing numbers

We will look at how we can persuade more people to come to our Focus Group meetings. The second part of March’s meeting will be open to any suggestions for getting more people involved. Any ideas you have for this will be welcome.

Our new Client Engagement Worker, Claudette, will be at the meeting. Her role is to ensure that people accessing any Advonet Group services or projects can get involved more in what we do.

When is the meeting?

The Focus Group meeting is on Monday 21st March from 2pm-3pm. It is going to be at our office at this address:
