Our Leeds Autism AIM, West Yorkshire Police and other organisations have coproduced a free autism alert card. Initially, the card is for autistic adults aged 18 and over, living in Leeds.
The card can be sent to you in printed form, as an electronic document to show on your smartphone or both. The card can be used in situations like:
- If you are feeling stressed or anxious
- When you need access to a quiet space in a public area
- Wanting to communicate your needs as an autistic adult
This is what the card looks like, front and back:
The information on the card can be personalised. It can say how being autistic affects you. There is space for an emergency contact and, if preferred, include your pronouns.
Logos for our Leeds Autism AIM team and The Advonet Group are on the front. To help use the card with confidence, the West Yorkshire Police logo is on the front of the card too.
