In November, Lead Advocates from the Health Complaints Advocacy team attended a coproduction training session. We learned all about what co-production is and gained better understanding of the different levels of participation, co-design, engagement, consultation to coercion.
This knowledge will enable us to work more efficiently with community groups’ in the future to help us provide advocacy for them.
People’s Voices Group
Nazia, one of our Lead Advocates, also attended the People’s Voices Group in November, run by Healthwatch Leeds. At the event, we went through the success of the Leeds Big Chat event in October and how to keep the momentum going.
We then talked about how to pass on the knowledge and skills to other groups who may undertake small chats within their communities. Afterwards, we discussed the principles, vision and values for the People’s Voices Group going forward.
Advocacy training
Rosie, the team’s manager and Nahida, the team’s other Lead Advocate, were involved in running our latest Effective Advocacy and Negotiation Skills training. The two-day course was attended by over a dozen people and saw Rosie and Nahida share their experience and knowledge of working in Health Complaints Advocacy with everyone who took part.
Nahida, along with one of our other Lead Advocates, will be leading a new-look advocacy training course in the new year. Details of that will be coming soon.
