The Restraint, Seclusion and Segregation (RSS) Project has created another questionnaire to go alongside the one already out for people with lived experience of RSS in health and care settings. This one is for parents and carers of people who have experienced RSS in places such as mental health hospitals and care homes.
We are particularly keen to hear from:
- Parents/carers of children and young adults who are either autistic, have a learning disability and/or mental health difficulties who have been detained in care homes
- People from BAME communities who have been underrepresented in research around the use of RSS and detention in mental health hospitals and assessment and treatment units (ATUs)
Any feedback given in the questionnaire will be anonymised. We will make sure that you won’t be able to be identified through your story in any reports. The aim of the questionnaire is to make sure that your voices are heard when giving testimonies about RSS and that you and your children’s rights are respected when in health and care settings.
The feedback from this questionnaire will go to important people who have the power to make changes. They include the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Department of Health and Social Care. We hope to get as much as possible to make sure that actions such as children with learning disabilities being detained in mental health hospitals no longer take place.
