Workshops
We will have four free workshops running at the same time that you can choose from. Each have a focus on how self-advocacy can empower people from marginalised communities to speak up for themselves and their rights.
1: How self-advocacy approaches and tools can support communities
This workshop is about how using a self-advocacy approach and bespoke self-advocacy resources can help people and communities access services they need and reduce inequalities. It will look at how our free resources can help you and how you can create your own or adapt existing self-advocacy tools to suit your community’s needs.
2: Health Complaints Advocacy – helping to improve your local healthcare services
Health Complaints Advocacy can help you or the people you support to improve how local health services work. It will cover how using self-advocacy resources and Health Complaints Advocacy can support individuals to get positive outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
3: Empowering people with learning disabilities
In this workshop, led by our Asking You! Team, we will look at how self-advocacy can help empower people with learning disabilities to speak up for themselves and their rights in a variety of ways. This can include using Easy Read self-advocacy resources and accessing training.
4: Increasing access to services for autistic adults
Led by our Autism AIM team, this workshop will look at how self-advocacy can help autistic adults to gain access to services. This includes the use of their extensive range of self-advocacy resources and services themselves working with autistic adults to remove any barriers to getting support.
