At Advonet, we are deeply concerned about the impact of the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Cheshire West framework removal and Deprivation of Liberty.
Horrific outcomes for individuals in the past have showed us that when you remove much needed safeguards such as visits by independent advocates, disabled people become more at risk of experiencing restrictive care and abuse.
Our mission is to enable people to better communicate their needs, understand their choices and obtain their rights. With this in mind, we will be working with our partners to find ways to continue providing independent advocacy to those people who will no longer be protected by the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
