Advonet’s Volunteer Coordinators have been busy planning over the Christmas period and are excited to start the new year by welcoming a new group of volunteers.
After a successful interview with our Volunteer Coordinators, where potential volunteers get to know more about the range of volunteer roles and we get to know more about their experience and motivation, volunteers will be invited to an induction training session.
What to expect from the induction
The Induction to Volunteering training will provide a clear and friendly introduction to volunteering with Advonet. During the session, participants will:
- Learn more about Advonet and our values
- Find out what volunteering with Advonet involves
- Learn about our lived experience roles for people with autism or a learning disability
- Understand the support and training volunteers can expect
- Have the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed and welcoming environment
The session is designed to be accessible and inclusive, helping people feel informed and confident from the very beginning.
Lived experience volunteering roles
Advonet has a range of lived experience volunteering roles for people who are autistic or have a learning disability. These roles recognise the value of lived experience and the important insight it brings to shaping services, influencing change, and supporting others.
The induction will provide information about what these roles involve, the support available, and how volunteers can take on roles that reflect their interests, strengths, and goals. Reasonable adjustments and ongoing support are available to help volunteers take part in a way that works best for them.
Exploring volunteering opportunities
Advonet’s Volunteering Guide outlines the different roles available, including lived experience roles and other volunteering opportunities. It explains what each role involves.
Our volunteering team are happy to talk to you about any of the roles that we have available, can talk to you about your goals for volunteering, and about the support that we can offer.
The roles we are currently recruiting for are:
- Learning Disability Citizen Advocate
- Autism Employment Mentor
- Autism Peer Support Volunteer
- Autism Drop-In Hub Volunteer
Ongoing training and support
The induction is just the start. Advonet has further training planned throughout the year, giving volunteers opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills, and develop in their roles.
Volunteers will also receive ongoing support, regular check-ins, and guidance to make sure they feel valued, listened to, and supported throughout their volunteering journey.
