For Trustees’ Week 2025 (3rd-7th November), we spoke to Jodie Champaneria, a member of our Board. She shared her experience of how she joined us and what she likes about her role.

I have been a trustee for just over a year and it has honestly been such a valuable experience. As a former advocate in the Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) team, I bring first-hand service delivery knowledge to our discussions. This perspective, combined with my background in Corporate Social Responsibility allows me to contribute to governance discussions.

Connecting with the other trustees and employees has been an enriching experience because everyone has something unique to contribute. I’ve gained insight into strategic decision making and the complexities of how an organisation operates holistically.

The Board is a welcoming space where sharing ideas is encouraged and supported. For anyone passionate about a cause, becoming a trustee is a meaningful way to contribute to that mission whilst also gaining skills!
