We are delighted to announce that our contract for providing both statutory and Community Advocacy in Leeds has been extended until the end of March 2028. As a result, we will continue our work helping people to get their voices heard and rights upheld throughout the city.
Our advocacy service supports around 2,500 people in Leeds every year, with other parts of The Advonet Group supporting hundreds more. The contract, awarded by Leeds City Council, gives us and the people we work with more certainty.
Future planning
Chief Executive Angela Ellis talked about how this helps us going into the next few years. “We are extremely pleased that the Council awarded us this contract extension. This helps us to plan for the future, ensuring we reach as many people as possible to help them be heard” she said.
“Over the next few years, we will continue to do our best to ensure people’s rights are being upheld, whether they are in a care home, need to make a complaint about healthcare or if they are detained under the Mental Health Act”.
The extension coincides with recent good news for our Autism AIM service. Whilst we and most other charities providing vital services continue to do more for materially less funding, we have confidence in our ability to sustain our work going towards the end of this decade.
Listening to you
Over the next few years, we will do whatever we can to provide the best possible advocacy. It will continue to be free, independent and confidential. We will also listen to and act on any feedback you have about our work, working to improve our service.
We will also continue to work with partners in the local voluntary sector and in other services including health and social care. This will help us to get the best possible outcome for all our advocacy clients.
