Self-advocacy course dates confirmed for LGBTQ+ project

Two new self-advocacy training courses run as part of the LGBTQ+ Health Inclusion Project will start in early August. There are two courses for LGBTQ+ people. One is for people who also have a learning disability. The other is for people who are either autistic and/or have mental health difficulties.

Each group will have six sessions, one every week. They aim to help you do two things:

  1. Learn skills to help you speak up about your rights.
  2. Helps you to get involved in the health services you use.

The courses are free to attend.

Course for adults with learning disabilities

The self-advocacy workshop for LGBTQ+ people with learning disabilities is every Wednesday from 11am to 3pm. It takes place at Yorkshire MESMAC’s office. It is at this address:

  • 7th August
  • 14th August
  • 21st August
  • 28th August
  • 4th September
  • 11th September

These sessions will have a lunch break.

Course for autistic adults and adults with mental health difficulties

The self-advocacy workshop for LGBTQ+ autistic people and people with mental health difficulties is every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm. It takes place at Phoenix Health and Wellbeing in Leeds City Centre. It is at this address:
