We have released an agenda for what’s happening at the free Advocacy at Care Homes event taking place this Thursday. The event is held jointly by Advonet and Exemplar Health Care and will cover many different aspects of helping to make care home residents’ voices heard. Here is what’s happening on the day:

  • 10am: Tea and Coffee
  • 10:15am: Introduction to the potential of advocacy at care homes
    • Philip Bramson, Advonet’s Chief Executive, gives an overview of what in-house advocacy will look like when delivered in care home settings
  • 10:25am: Case Study: Advonet’s work with Exemplar Health Care
    • A look at the partnership work between our Care Home Advocacy service and Exemplar at the Ravensdale Care Home, which has been going since 2013
  • 11:00am: An Advocacy Approach: Taster of our training session
    • This half-hour slot talks about how advocacy works, what it is and what it is not. It will be delivered by one of our Lead Advocates
  • 11:30am: How will we know what difference advocacy makes to care homes?
    • Wendy Cork, Advonet’s Development and Partnerships Director, goes into detail about what advocacy can do for care home residents and care homes themselves, including being able to better meet residents’ needs
  • 11:55am: Raising issues together: Introducing the Restraint, Seclusion and Segregation (RSS) Project
