Learning by Doing Together: Employment event later this month

CHANGE will be leading on an event to promote the idea of people with learning disabilities being employed by the services they are involved in later this month. As part of the Learning by Doing Together Project, this free event will talk about their new way of thinking about learning disability and employment.

Anyone who attends will also get a preview of their new toolkit, which is about:

  • How to design a job
  • How to use peer support
  • How to find and choose staff in an inclusive way

CHANGE and the other organisers will be doing some activities to help talk about their ideas and to hear about what people think. They invite you to join in with group activities, drama and discussion as much or as little as you like.

About the project

The Learning by Doing Together project was a community university partnership that was funded by DRILL and brought together CHANGE, The University of Leeds and KeyRing.

This event is for people with learning disabilities, academics, policy makers and organisations to learn from our project and from each other.

These groups joined together to make a new peer worker job with the strengths of people with learning disabilities in mind.

The event is on Wednesday 23rd October from 12 Noon until 5pm. It is at this address:

Ambition:Leeds
City Exchange
Floor 6, Albion Street
Leeds
LS1 5ES

For more information or to register for the event, please email Liz Oliver at E.A.Oliver@lubs.leeds.ac.uk.

You are welcome to attend the whole afternoon or to select the sessions that most suit you. We aim to make our event accessible, so please let us know how we can best support you.
