Chair of the Board of Trustees

  • Role: Chair of the Board of Trustees
  • Closing date: 12th July 2018
  • This is a voluntary role

Advonet is a Leeds-based charity that provides independent advocacy to people facing disadvantage, to enable individuals to have their voices heard, their needs understood and their rights respected. Advonet provides a range of advocacy services, including statutory advocacy under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. Its role includes supporting other organisations to develop their own advocacy capacity and to enable people they support to advocate for themselves.

Advonet was created in its current form by the merger with three other local advocacy organisations. Earlier this year, it secured a five-year contract to deliver advocacy in Leeds, leading a consortium with a number of other charities. Its’ annual turnover is around £1.5 million.

The 11-strong board is diverse in terms of age, experience, gender, disability and ethnicity.
