Free advocacy training sessions this February

This February, Advonet are running a free suite of advocacy training sessions. There are three in total, all of which will give you the skills needed to use advocacy to support the people you work with.

The first part of our course is Introduction to Advocacy, a half-day session covering the basics of what advocacy is and how it can be used. Part two is Effective Advocacy and Negotiation Skills, a longer session looking at some of the skills needed to advocate for others.

The final part is Introduction to Advocacy Specialisms. This is a longer session too, focusing on the different areas of advocacy, such as Health Complaints, Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) and Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA).

When and where?

The training sessions are at these dates and times:

  • Introduction to Advocacy – Monday 17th February – 1:30pm-4:30pm
  • Effective Advocacy and Negotiation Skills – Tuesday 18th February – 9:30am-4:30pm
  • Introduction to Advocacy Specialisms – Wednesday 26th February – 9:30am-4:30pm

All three will be held at Voluntary Action Leeds’ office, which is at this address:
